Sharks react to Kings tying the series in Los Angeles

Reaction from the Kings locker room after the Kings won Game 6 by a final score of 4-1, forcing a Game 7 this Wednesday…

San Jose Head Coach Todd McLellan on the game winning goal:

“We got cheated. Simple as that. I was told that you could see the puck laying behind his feet the whole time. That is why the whistle didn’t go. It’s pretty clear when you look at it after. That was obviously the turning point. Got to move on and overcome it again.”

Video of the disputed play…

McLellan on top players:

“I want to see a winning performance. Tonight was a hell of a game. It was back and forth, it was rugged, it was a hard fought game by both teams. Their guys ended up scoring late, after that goal, but we need a Game 7 performance from everybody. Our big guys are going to have to find a way to get on the board at some point. We have done it before, and can do it again.”

McLellan on if the series with Detroit have any bearing on this Game 7:

“Yes and no. I’ve talked about this before you can draw on experience and you should if you have it, but different opponent, different group. Our team is different. A lot of different things in this series.”

Joe Thornton on the game:

“We worked all 82 games to have home ice in this situation. Obviously we would have liked to have won tonight. I thought we played well until that one goal that we thought should have been disallowed. We go home now and it’s a huge game.”

Thronton on LA’s second goal:

“I don’t know. From the bench it looked like Al (Stalock) had it covered for a little bit of time. The coaching staff felt like they (LA) were just pushing in to the net. We’ve seen calls this year go the other way and go that way so we just have to move on.”

Logan Couture on LA’s second goal:

“I’ve seen it a couple times and don’t think it should’ve counted. Things like that happen. It’s up to the team, the leaders and coaching staff to regroup after a goal like that, which we didn’t. They’re a great team; we’re a good team. I think all the outsiders picked this one to go to seven games and it is so here we go.”

Alex Stalock on LA’s second goal:

“”It was an innocent shot from the side that ended up getting tipped in front, went between my legs but from there it was just lying behind my skates. They pushed it in to the net and it was a good goal. They made a good play I guess, going hard to the net and those are the goals that will eventually win you the series. I don’t think the puck goes in if I don’t get pushed in. It was still so something had to be done for the puck to move in to the net.”
